Obligatory Pacific Rim review

Perhaps not so much a review as a recommendation:

If you enjoy

a) giant monsters,
b) giant robots, and/or
c) military sci-fi,

then you need to go see this movie, especially on the big screen.

I particularly liked the opening exposition, and the scenes leading up to the title. The first kaiju attack on the Golden Gate Bridge was a favorite and very well done, having the heft and "reality" of suitmation effects.

This gives me great hope for next year's Godzilla, also produced by Legendary Pictures. Now could someone greenlight del Toro's At the Mountains of Madness already?

I'm going to go and see it again. I've haven't watched any of the modern 3D movies, but I think I'm going to give it a try for my second viewing.

@Trey: Enjoy!

@Lowell: This was the first modern polarized 3D movie I have seen. It didn't make me queasy (which I assumed it would, thanks to Dramamine), but I don't know if it added anything either. I'd see it again in 2D.

I am not very fond of Sci-fi movies, but had to watch coz my hubby is crazy about these. I enjoyed the movie not because of its story but the effects which are amazing when you watch in 3D.
